I can’t quite believe that title up there. After three years, countless mistakes and numerous disappointments, I finally have a 4 track EP that I can play to people. Pathetic really how long it’s taken isn’t it?!
The relief I feel is massive. When I initially recorded these songs, I was so unhappy with how they turned out that I gave up on my original music altogether. In hindsight I wish I hadn’t done that, but what is done is done.
I have to say a massive thank you at this point to Laurence Howell, who’s huge talent has saved these songs from the scrap heap. He gave up his free time to help me out and I won’t forget that in a hurry.
So, we have Carousel, Packing My Bags, Time To Leave and See Through Skin recorded with a full band backing, and I have a title for this first EP – Dancing By The Side Of The Road. This seemingly random name is an in-joke between me and Sam the bassist – he was trying to recall the lyrics from Carousel and misremembered ‘Looking out for cracks in the road‘. I thought it had a nice ring to it anyway so there we go!
I’ve come up with the front artwork which you can see below. Next thing is to get some photos done of myself for the back cover.
So what to do with this EP now it’s finally done? I must confess that I don’t know the right way to promote and release it. So I guess the next step is research.
I’m really looking forward to playing it for you all!
