Coming Home

This is a very recent song of mine. Its only been aired live twice to date if I remember correctly. I have a love of trains and travelling on them, and so decided to write a song about it. This love doesn’t extend into anorak wearing trainspotting; but I find something very calming and relaxing about them. I also love people-watching at the big train stations – people saying goodbye, people overjoyed to see each other, and everything in between. The song is about me travelling home to be with my family.

I’m through the turnstile and I make my way through the station

There’s something about this place that fuels an eager imagination

The people come, the people go, but I can’t wait here any longer

Won’t be long until I’m home, until then I will wander

I, well I don’t mind I’m on my way again I’ve got

Time, to reflect on all the choices that I’ve made

No matter where I find myself I’m coming home, once again

Don’t wanna be alone, I really need a friend

I travel lightly and I’m sitting by the window

I feel the earth move then I close my eyes and start to let go

Cities come, cities go, but I am blissfully oblivious

One more stop before I’m home and then the me becomes the us

I, well I don’t mind I’m on my way again I’ve got

Time, to reflect on all the choices that I’ve made

No matter where I find myself I’m coming home, once again

Don’t wanna be alone, I really need a friend

And I, no I don’t mind

I’m coming home, I did my time

And I, I will find

That nothing’s changed

Except everything

I, well I don’t mind I’m on my way again I’ve got

Time, to reflect on all the choices that I’ve made

No matter where I find myself I’m coming home, once again

Don’t wanna be alone, I really need a friend
